Ghanaian youngster Raphael Adjei‘s proposed move to Swedish champions Malmö FF is on the verge of collapsing after negotiations between the clubs reached a major impasse, sources have revealed to Footy-Africa.

The 18-year-old defensive midfielder, who recently trained with the Allsvenskan giants, had been expected to complete the transfer after turning 18 by signing a four-year contract.

Under the proposed agreement, Adjei was set to begin his European career with Malmö’s U19 side before joining Malmö-based BK Olympic on loan as part of his development pathway.

However, Footy-Africa understands that the deal has stalled because Golden Boys FC and Malmö FF have failed to reach an agreement, with the Ghanaian club making demands the Swedish side are currently unwilling to meet.

The deadlock has placed the transfer in serious doubt despite positive discussions in recent months and the player’s successful training spell with the club.

Adjei had impressed Malmö’s technical staff during his time in Sweden, strengthening the club’s desire to secure his signature. The move would also have continued Malmö’s growing recruitment drive in Ghana, following the arrivals of Israel Anum and Yassin Mohammed over the past year.

Unless a breakthrough is reached soon, Adjei is expected to remain at Golden Boys FC, with his long-awaited move to Sweden in jeopardy.
