Rogers Mato’s rise in Europe has taken another decisive step. The Ugandan international has signed a contract extension with North Macedonian giants FK Vardar, keeping him at the club until December 2026. His previous deal was set to expire in June 2026, but Vardar have moved early to secure one of their most productive assets, Footy-Africa can exclusively reveal.

Speaking exclusively to Footy-Africa, a source close to the player confirmed the extension and its significance.

“Rogers is happy at Vardar and feels trusted by the club,” one source revealed. “The extension reflects that trust, and the release clause shows Vardar understand his value. Both sides see this as the right step for his career at this moment.”

The new agreement comes with a release clause of €800,000, underlining the club’s recognition of Mato’s growing value and influence. That figure sits notably above his current €500,000 Transfermarkt valuation, a clear signal that Vardar expect interest and are positioning themselves strongly ahead of any future bids.

On the pitch, Mato has been nothing short of electric this season. He has already racked up 15 goals and two assists in just 17 games, numbers that place him among the most in-form attackers in the league.

The surge represents a sharp upward curve from last season, where he finished with six goals in 16 appearances, highlighting his rapid development and increased responsibility in the final third.

Rogers Mato sets sights to playing in Europe’s top five leagues

Before his Vardar breakthrough, Mato built his European résumé at Brera Strumica after rising to prominence with KCCA FC back home in Uganda. Each move has sharpened his game, and his current output suggests he is now entering his prime years with confidence and authority.

His club form has not gone unnoticed at international level. Mato is currently part of the Uganda Cranes squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where he is expected to play a key role as Uganda aim to make a strong impression on the continental stage.

With goals flowing, a fresh contract signed, and AFCON on the horizon, Rogers Mato’s trajectory is firmly pointing upward, and FK Vardar have made sure they are along for the ride.
