The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has reaffirmed that defender Marvin Senaya is fully committed to representing the Black Stars, despite receiving a simultaneous invitation from Togo.
The AJ Auxerre right-back found himself in a unique international dilemma after being selected by both nations for their upcoming friendly fixtures. Initially, Togo head coach Patrice Neveu named him in his squad for games against Guinea and Niger. Shortly after, Ghana included Senaya in their 26-man list for matches against Austria and Germany.
Eligible to play for both countries due to his Ghanaian mother and Togolese father, former international Yao Mawuko Senaya, the young defender ultimately made his decision clear.

According to GFA Executive Council member Frederick Acheampong, Senaya has embraced the opportunity to represent Ghana with great enthusiasm and has firmly turned his back on Togo’s approach.
“Marvin Senaya is extremely happy after earning a call-up to the Black Stars. He embraces the moment with great excitement. His Auxerre teammates, Gideon Mensah and Elisha Owusu, have spoken of his delight and pride at the opportunity to represent Ghana on the international stage. Despite previously being named in Togo’s squad, Senaya has committed his future to Ghana,” he said on Kessben FM.
Ghana’s senior national team is set for a busy international window, beginning with a clash against Austria on March 27, before traveling to Stuttgart to take on Germany in a highly anticipated encounter on March 30, 2026.
