Two clubs from Sweden’s top flight are stepping up their pursuit of highly rated Ghanaian teenager Issaka Seidu as the January transfer window approaches, with Degerfors IF and Västerås SK both exploring the possibility of a loan deal, Footy-Africa can exclusively confirm.
Footy-Africa understands that the Allsvenskan duo have identified the 19-year-old left-back as a key short-term reinforcement, with discussions centered on a temporary move from Danish Superliga outfit FC Nordsjælland. The clubs believe Seidu’s athleticism, composure on the ball, and tactical discipline could provide an immediate boost to their defensive units for the second half of the season.
Confirming the growing interest, sources close to the negotiations at hid agency CAA Stellar exclusively told Footy-Africa:
“There is concrete interest from Sweden. Degerfors and Västerås have both made inquiries about a loan, and the player is keen on a move where he can play regularly. FC Nordsjælland see this as a good opportunity for his development, and talks are expected to progress in the coming days.”
Seidu, a product of Ghana’s renowned Right to Dream Academy, joined Nordsjælland in the summer of 2024 and was quickly integrated into the senior setup. However, consistent minutes have been limited for the teenager during the ongoing campaign, restricting him to just five league outings so far.
With regular playing time high on his agenda, the promising defender is understood to be receptive to a winter switch. Sources indicate that a move to Sweden is currently his preferred option as he seeks sustained top-flight exposure during the remainder of the 2025/26 season. In addition to Degerfors and Västerås, at least one other Allsvenskan club is also believed to be monitoring the situation closely.
Seidu’s development continues to attract attention beyond club football. The versatile full-back is widely viewed as a future contender for the Ghana senior national team, with scouts and coaches alike impressed by his maturity and upside at such a young age.
