Ugandan international and skillful attacking midfielder Titus Ssematimba has joined 2024/25 Uganda Premier League runners-up NEC FC from former Uganda Cup winners Kitara FC, Footy-Africa can exclusively confirm.
Ssematimba, who signed for Kitara at the start of last season, has departed after just one year, with his contract officially expiring on Monday. He has now agreed to join NEC FC, who are building a strong squad for their 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup campaign.
His agent, Dennis Namanya of Prosper Sports Agency, confirmed exclusively to Footy-Africa that a two-year deal has been agreed and Ssematimba is set to be officially unveiled later this week.
βThe move to NEC is done. All thatβs left is the official signing and unveiling this week,β Namanya revealed. βHe has been offered a respectable salary and decent sign-on bonuses. NEC moved quickly, as they wanted a swift replacement for Enock Ssebaggala, with continental football coming up. Itβs a very good, progressive project β especially considering his age.β
Last season at Kitara, the 21-year-old featured in 24 matches across all competitions, scoring two goals and providing five assists. Before joining Kitara, he had two spells with Wakiso Giants FC and also had a brief stint with Majd FC in Abu Dhabi in 2024.
On the international stage, Ssematimba has already earned six caps for the Uganda Cranes, scoring once and adding an assist. He has also represented Uganda at the U17, U20, and U23 levels.
