Footy-Africa exclusively understands that Vipers SC teenage sensation Abubakali Walusimbi is in the Czech Republic, finalizing a move to giants Slavia Prague.
The 16-year-old midfielder, already decorated with two Uganda Premier League titles and a Uganda Cup medal, is poised for the biggest step of his young career.
Walusimbi rose through the ranks at Vipers’ feeder side, St. Mary’s School Kitende, before breaking into the senior team last season.
His leadership qualities were evident when he captained Uganda’s U17 side in the CECAFA Zonal qualifiers, helping them secure a spot at the AFCON U17 tournament earlier this year. The youngster has previously represented Uganda at U15 level, marking him as one of the brightest prospects in East African football.
A source close to the player confirmed the development to Footy-Africa: “Yes, Abubakali is already in Prague. The deal is progressing well, and he is expected to start with the youth team before stepping up to the senior side. Slavia see him as a long-term investment.”
Walusimbi, known for his vision, passing range, and long-range shooting, will initially link up with Slavia Prague’s youth team. Meanwhile, the Czech giants are competing in this season’s UEFA Champions League and face Inter Milan on Tuesday.
