Ghanaian forward Emmanuel Yeboah has joined Swedish side Halmstads BK on loan from Danish club Brøndby IF, and Footy-Africa understands former Ghana striker Yaw Preko played an indirect role in the deal.
Preko, who spent two seasons at Halmstads between 2004 and 2005, was referenced during negotiations after the club discovered he had previously coached Yeboah during his time with Ghana’s U-20 and U-23 national teams.
“Yaw Preko’s name came up during discussions, and he gave a good account of the player,” a source close to the deal told Footy-Africa. “The club respects him and welcomed his views.”
Yeboah, 22, is making the move in search of regular football after a difficult stint in Denmark. He joined Brøndby in 2023 from Romanian side CFR Cluj but struggled to find form and was later loaned to Vejle Boldklub, where he scored once in the second half of last season.

At Brøndby, he managed just three goals and one assist in all competitions. Despite having a contract until June 2027, he was deemed surplus to requirements.
The loan deal with Halmstads includes an option to make the move permanent. The Swedish club currently sits mid-table in the Allsvenskan.
