After close to a week of reports, English Championship side Birmingham City FC have submitted their first bid worth €3 million to Swedish side IF Elfsborg for Ghanaian international center-back Terry Yegbe, Footy-Africa can exclusively confirm.
Yegbe has recently been rumored to be close to joining Birmingham, but the first official bid has only been presented on Thursday. It’s worth noting that the 24-year-old is still contracted at Elfsborg till December 2028.
Exclusively talking to Footy-Africa, a highly placed source at AIT, who are the player’s representatives, has confirmed the developments. However, it’s believed that Elfsborg is set to reject the offer, as their valuation stands at €6 million.
“Birmingham has become the first team to send in an official bid to Elfsborg. It’s worth €3 million, but it’s set to be rejected in the next 24 hours, and Elfsborg hold out for a fee in the region of €6 million. The player is open to move, but he’s not forcing a move, and wants the clubs to sort the business end of the deal. It’s going to be a critical week for Yegbe’s future,” the source explained.

Having joined from Finnish club SJK Seinäjoki at the start of the 2023/24 season, Yegbe has since made 57 appearances for Elfsborg. In the 2024/25 campaign, he featured 37 times across the domestic league and the Europa League.
In the Europa League, he also featured in all eight group matches as they picked up wins against Roma, Qarabag and Nice but were eliminated from the competition with defeats to Tottenham, Galatasaray, Athletic Club and AZ Alkmaar.
At the international stage, Yegbe made his debut with the Ghana senior national team, Black Stars against Niger in November 2024 during an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier. He has since managed two caps for the Black Stars.
