Following a failed attempt last year, Spanish La Liga 2 outfit SD Huesca have re-initiated contact with Real Sociedad B for the signing of Kenyan youngster Job Nguono Ochieng, Footy-Africa can exclusively confirm.

In the 2024 summer window, Huesca and Real Sociedad B had reached an agreement over a loan deal for the 22-year-old. However, the deal fell through when then Real Sociedad B manager Ion Ansotegi blocked the move.

Huesca have now returned with the purpose of a permanent purchase for the versatile attacker, who can operate on both wingers, and in the central attacking positions. His contract with Real Sociedad B will expire at the end of June in 2026.

Exclusively speaking to Footy-Africa a source at Ochieng’s agency, Global Ases, revealed that Huesca have offered to pay in the excess of €400,000 to secure the player. However, Ochieng is yet to assent to a move as he’s still assessing his chances of earning a promotion to the senior team ahead of the forthcoming 2025/26 campaign.

β€œHuesca are long-term admirers of Job (Ochieng), and have monitored him since last year. They want him permanently on a four-year contract, after failing to sign him on loan in the previous summer window. They have sent in a bid of €400,000 to Real Sociedad B and hope that they’ll accept it. The challenge is that the player is still awaiting to see if there’s an opportunity to play with the senior team (Real Sociedad) next season,” the source exclusively told Footy-Africa.

Ochieng, whose Transfermarkt valuation has since risen to an estimated €100,000, made 23 appearances last season, with two goals and four assists. Across the past two seasons, he has played 42 times for the team. Before joining Real Sociedad B, the attacker spent three seasons with Spanish lower league side Club Deportivo Maspalomas. That was before his juvenile years at Kenyan side Ligi Ndogo SC.

Meanwhile, at the international level, Ochieng has yet to be handed a Kenyan National Senior team (Harambee Stars) debut. The move to Huesca could, however, ignite future summons to the team.
