Tanzanian and East African powerhouse Azam FC have continued to block the transfer of forward Feisal Salum to join South African outfit Kaizer Chiefs FC, Footy-Africa has exclusively learned.

With his current contract at Azam set for expiration at the end of the 2025/26 season, Azam insists the player will only be allowed to leave if the suitors match their valuation. Additionally, the Tanzanians are determined to have him stay throughout next season and subsequently walk out as a free agent.

A source close to the player has exclusively told Footy-Africa that Azam have cut negotiations with Kaizer Chiefs for Salum as the latter failed to match their €300,000 valuation. Kaizer Chiefs were determined to raise up to €200,000.

“Azam are furious with Feisal (Salum) as he refused to extend his contract, and now will allow him leave as a free agent in June 2026. Right now, they won’t let him leave unless Kaizer Chiefs are ready to spend €300,000 which is the ultimate demand. It’s a hard one to take, given the expense and the fact that he only has one year remaining. Kaizer Chiefs are yet to submit a second bid,” the exclusive source told Footy-Africa.

At Azam last season, Salum, whose Transfermarkt valuation is estimated at €150,000, has scored four goals and assisted 10 times in 13 appearances across the Tanzania Premier League and the CAF Champions League qualification campaign.

In the 2023/24 campaign, in what was a debut year there, he scored a stunning 16 goals and assisted six, in just 15 games. Salum joined Azam from rivals Young Africans SC where he had spent two seasons, as he scored 11 goals with eight assists in 33 matches.

For the Tanzanian National Senior Team, the Taifa Stars, Salum has completed 38 competitive caps, scoring four goals, whilst assisting on 11 occasions.
