Gambian teenage sensation Suwaibou Kebbeh is once again making headlines in Swedish football, as Mjällby AIF have shown strong interest in securing his services on a permanent transfer from Hammarby IF, Footy-Africa can exclusively confirm.

The development comes barely two months after the 18-year-old completed a permanent move to Hammarby from Gambian giants Real de Banjul FC, following an initial loan spell that allowed him to adapt to life in Swedish football.

Why Mjällby are interested

Mjällby AIF’s interest signals a potential step up for the Gambian youngster. Known for developing emerging talents and integrating young players into top-flight competition, the club sees Kebbeh as a promising long-term investment with immediate attacking potential.

At just 18, Kebbeh fits the profile of a modern forward — versatile, energetic, and capable of influencing games both as a scorer and creator. His ability to adapt quickly to Swedish football has only strengthened his reputation.

His agent Modou Lamin Beyai talking exclusively to Footy-Africa stated that while Mjällby are pushing for the transfer it would be difficult for Hammarby to let Kebbeh go.

Rapid rise in Sweden

Kebbeh’s progress since arriving in Sweden has been nothing short of remarkable. After impressing during preseason with Hammarby’s senior setup, the dynamic forward carried his fine form into competitive action, delivering an outstanding campaign in the Ettan Nora.

Last season, he registered 8 goals and 3 assists in 15 league appearances, numbers that underline his attacking efficiency and maturity beyond his years.

His pace, direct running, and eye for goal quickly made him one of the standout young performers in the division.

What happens next

While discussions are still ongoing, a move to Mjällby would represent another major milestone in Kebbeh’s fast-rising European journey.

From his breakthrough days at Real de Banjul to earning attention from established Swedish clubs, the young Gambian continues to show that he belongs on bigger stages.
