Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali parted ways with South African club Chippa United during the winter transfer window, after both parties agreed to terminate his contract and he can now join any club of his choice as a free agent

The 29-year-old joined the club in 2022 and caught the attention of former Nigerian head coach Jose Peseiro, who handed him a recall and made him the first choice goalkeeper at the 2023 African Cup of Nations tournament in Ivory Coast, where his impressive performances at that tournament helped the Super Eagles to a silver medal finish.

At the moment, Nwabali is still without a club and has publicly stated that he is open to joining any club. With the qualifiers for the 2027 African Cup of Nations tournament fast approaching, he will be keen on securing regular game time to avoid losing his spot in the team.

Here are four clubs the Super Eagles shot-stopper could end up at.

Simba FC (Tanzania)

Tanzanian club Simba have been long-term admirers of Nwabali and previously wanted to sign him, but were put off by Chippa United’s asking price.

The club are regular contenders in the CAF Champions League and would offer the Super Eagles goalkeeper an opportunity to keep playing at the highest level, while his calm presence and experience in goal could be a major boost for their continental dreams.

Orlando Pirates (South Africa)

Nwabali could also decide to remain in the South African Premier Soccer League, with Orlando Pirates another club he could join.

Moving to the Buccaneers also allows the 29-year-old to compete for trophies and also not relocate far away from his family.

Raja Casablanca (Morocco)

Three-time CAF Champions League winners Raja Casablanca are also monitoring Nwabali’s situarion and could end up sealing a sensational move for the Super Eagles first-choice goalkeeper.

The 29-year-old is no stranger playing in Morocco, having featured for Nigeria during the CAF playoff rounds for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and also at the 2025 African Cup of Nations tournament where they won bronze medal. It could be a major step in his career if he ends up joining the Moroccan giants.

Al Ettifaq (Saudi Arabia)

A switch to the Middle East also remains an option, with Saudi Pro League outfit Al Ettifaq previously linked with a move for the Nigerian goalkeeper.

The move would be financially appealing and would give him a significant pay upgrade, while he joins the growing list of players to have made the switch.

Nwabali must act quickly on his future and ensure he secures regular playing time, which is important in maintaining his fitness and sharpness, if he is to continue as Nigeria’s first-choice goalkeeper.
