A close source at Medeama SC exclusively for Footy-Africa has shed light on the behind-the-scenes journey that led to the transfer of 18-year-old winger David Boison Frimpong to Danish giants FC Copenhagen.

While the official announcement of Frimpong’s move – a one-year deal with an option to extend beyond 2025/26 season – is now public, the insider shared that the groundwork was laid months ago during Medeama’s CAF Champions League clash with CR Belouizdad in 2024.

“They first spotted him in our Champions League game against the Algerians,” the source revealed to Footy-Africa.com “Their scout was at the stadium and immediately showed interest. A few weeks later, he flew to Ghana to watch Boison again. That’s when he became convinced.”

According to the source, FC Copenhagen have been meticulous and patient in tracking Boison’s progress since that Champions League tie.

“They really kept tabs on him,” he said. “Every scout has their way of working, but this one was impressed right from the first glance. Boison is a walking grace, bro. He’s gifted, very disciplined, and age is on his side. If he stays grounded, the future is bright.”

The source, who has monitored Boison’s rise from Medeama’s feeder club Rospak SC, believes the youngster’s journey is only just beginning.

“Everyone gets their break in different ways, but this move came because someone believed in what they saw in him on a big stage,” he added. “It’s not just about talent, it’s timing, humility, and staying prepared.”

Boison’s move is seen as significant step in the growing list of Ghanaian prospects earning moves abroad after shining on the African stage.
