Belgian side OH Leuven are close to finalizing a deal for Nigerian starlet Ifeanyi Ikechukwu from Kwara Football Academy, Footy-Africa can exclusively report.
The highly-rated winger, who has been on trial with the Belgian Pro League side for several months, is expected to sign a professional contract when he turns 18 on 20 May
Footy-Africa understands that a pre-contract agreement was reached in January after Leuven and Kwara Academy settled on terms for the teenager.
Ikechukwu is already in Belgium training with the squad as he awaits his birthday to formalize the move.
The youngster’s progression follows a growing trend of talent emerging from the Ilorin-based academy, which has become a focal point for European scouts in recent months.

Ikechukwu’s academy teammate, Kamaldeen Abduljelil, is also the subject of a high-profile transfer battle.

Sources close to the player suggest a decision on his future is “imminent,” with several European clubs monitoring his situation following his breakout displays on the international stage.
