Paul Onuachu has been at the centre of growing transfer speculation ahead of the summer window, casting doubt over his long-term future at Trabzonspor, with several European clubs reportedly showing interest in the Super Eagles striker.

The 31-year-old initially played for the Turkish club during the 2023-24 season, where he enjoyed an impressive loan spell from Southampton. Onuachu then joined Trabzonspor on a permanent deal last summer after leaving the English club in a deal worth about €5.6 million.

The Nigerian striker has enjoyed a stunning campaign so far, which has not gone unnoticed by top clubs across the major European leagues. He currently leads the Turkish Super League in goals, having netted 21 times in the league this season, which is five more than his nearest challenger, and is on course to win the Golden Boot award.

The Super Eagles forward also enjoyed a run of scoring in 10 consecutive matches, including eight in the league, making history and becoming the first player in Trabzonspor history to achieve this remarkable feat.

However, he has been linked with a move away from the club ahead of the summer transfer window, with many clubs showing their interest in making a move. Here are four potential destinations the Nigerian forward could join if he decides to leave Trabzonspor this summer;

Werder Bremen (Germany)

German club Werder Bremen have expressed admiration for Onuachu’s quality and are ready to make a move during the summer transfer window if they manage to retain their Bundesliga status this season.

The four-time German champions have found goals hard to come by this season, which was made worse by the absence of fellow Nigerian striker Victor Boniface, who joined the club on loan from Bayer Leverkusen last summer and has spent several months on the sidelines.

As a result, they have identified Onuachu as a potential addition to strengthen their attack ahead of next season.

Wolfsburg (Germany)

Wolfsburg are another side in the Bundesliga showing interest in bringing Onuachu to Germany.

They have also struggled for goals in the league this season and would be keen on solving that issue by signing the Super Eagles forward in the summer transfer window.

However, any potential deal will likely hinge on their top-flight survival, with the club currently caught up in a relegation battle this season.

Al-Ahli (Saudi Arabia)

Saudi Pro League giants Al-Ahli are also interest in making a move for Onuachu, as they look to replace England international Ivan Toney who could leave the club at the end of the season.

The 2025 AFC Champions are reportedly prepared to offer the Super Eagles forward a deal worth three times his current salary, a move that could be decisive in convincing the striker to make the switch.

Hoffenheim (Germany)

Hoffenheim could also offer an option for Onuachu, with the German club keen to bolster their attack ahead of a possible Champions League football next season.

They are also likely to lose Fisnik Asllani, who has drawn interest from both Barcelona and Chelsea and have identified Onuachu as an upgrade in attack ahead of the coming season.

Trabzonspor are not ready to let him go at the moment, and Onuachu himself is happy to stay. However, with the transfer window still some way off, their stance could still change, potentially opening the door for the Nigerian forward to leave Turkey.
