With his contract set to expire on June 30th, Patson Daka’s future at Leicester City remains uncertain, as there are no ongoing talks over a renewal.
Footy Africa understands that there are currently no contract renewal talks. When asked about his future at the club, Daka said he remains focused on playing for Leicester but will assess his options at a later stage.
“I will be out of a contract for sure, so I have to assess every posibility that comes,” Daka exclusively told Footy-Africa.
The 27-year-old striker has been at the centre of transfer speculation over the past two seasons, with AFC Bournemouth reportedly coming close to signing him in 2024. A source close to his agency has also disclosed that they are assessing offers and expect to make a decision before June.
“There are some offeres yes, but I cant tell you for now. They are being assessed and the best option will be considered. He can leave Leicester or stay but for now nothing solid yet,” he told Footy-Africa.
Patson Daka: Record-breaking striker unsure of Leicester future
In January, the Chipolopolo striker broke his silence on transfer speculation as he approached the final months of his contract amid growing rumours.
“To be honest, a lot of people know things about myself which I don’t even know. For me I always just focuse on where I am, which is Leicester,” he said in Rabat. “I am playing and yeah, my contract will finish, of course but anything is possible, in football you will never know, so for me right now my focus is to play football.”
Daka joined Leicester City in the summer of 2021 from Austrian giants Red Bull Salzburg, with the transfer agreed and announced on 30 June 2021. Since moving to Leicester City, Daka has made 143 appearances, scoring 24 goals and providing 16 assists across all competitions.
Daka is also Leicester City’s record scorer in European competitions, achieving the feat during the club’s 2021–22 UEFA Europa League campaign. He scored four goals against Spartak Moscow in a thrilling 4–3 win on 20 October 2021, and added another against Legia Warsaw in a 3–1 victory on 25 November 2021—the fifth goal that set the club record.
