Beşiktaş have stepped up their interest in Nigerian academy prospects Nlemedim Ugochukwu Valentine and Stephen Nathaniel following encouraging trial spells with the Turkish club, sources have  exclusively told Footy-Africa.

The two players, who currently feature for Lagos-based Campos FC, recently spent several weeks in Istanbul training and undergoing assessment with Beşiktaş’s U-19 side under the close supervision of the club’s coaching staff.

Both players have since returned to Nigeria, with discussions now expected to continue as Beşiktaş weigh up their next move. A decision on their futures could be made in the coming days.

Sources indicate that the pair made a strong impression during their time in Turkey, enhancing their prospects of securing a move to one of the country’s most decorated clubs.

Beşiktaş have a long-standing connection with Nigerian football and has historically shown confidence in talent from the West African nation.

The Istanbul giants recently strengthened those ties by signing Wilfred Ndidi from Leicester City, with the Super Eagles midfielder quickly establishing himself as a key figure and subsequently being appointed one of the club’s vice-captains.

Several notable Nigerian players have also represented Beşiktaş in the past, including former Super Eagles goalkeeper Ike Shorunmu and legendary forward Daniel Amokachi.

Should Beşiktaş move forward with the signings of Valentine and Nathaniel, the Campos FC duo would become the latest Nigerian talents to join that growing legacy at the Turkish club, while marking another significant milestone for one of Nigeria’s emerging football academies.
