English Championship side Stoke City have submitted a €3 million transfer offer for Gambian international Abubakr Barry ahead of the summer 2026 transfer window, Footy-Africa can exclusively reveal.
Barry, who recently extended his contract with Austrian club Austria Wien until June 2027, is attracting growing interest following his impressive performances in Austria over the past two seasons.
His performances have also boosted his market value significantly. According to Transfermarkt, Barry is currently valued at around €2.5 million.
However, Austria Wien are understood to value the Gambian international much higher, with reports suggesting that only an offer in the region of €7 million could persuade the Austrian club to part ways with one of their most influential players.
Abubakr Barry commits to Austria Wien amid Hull City and Portsmouth interest
Despite committing his future to Austria Wien in March 2026, the Scorpions midfielder has previously indicated that he would consider a bigger career move should the right opportunity emerge.
The 25-year-old joined Austria Wien in July 2024 from Israeli side Bnei Yehuda Tel Aviv and has since established himself as one of the club’s standout performers. Barry has already made 70 appearances for the Vienna-based side, becoming a key figure in midfield with his consistency, composure, and defensive qualities.
