Abubakr Barry has reaffirmed his commitment to FK Austria Wien, insisting that he remains fully focused on the club despite growing transfer interest surrounding his future, Footy-Africa can exclusively report.
The Scorpions midfielder stated that he is not considering a move elsewhere at the moment after recently extending his stay with the Austrian giants, despite interest from English teams Hull City and Portsmouth.
Barry emphasized his desire to continue developing with Austria Wien and help the club compete for trophies before making any decision about a future transfer.

According to the midfielder, his priority is to remain at the club and achieve success while waiting for what he describes as a “much bigger opportunity” should the right offer arrive in the future.
“For now, I am focused on winning with this team. Of course, every player wants to play at the highest level, and when that arrives, we will see,” he exclusively told Footy-Africa. “The fans here are amazing. I like the country and we go on for the upcoming seasons,” he added.
Austria Wien exercised the contract extension option in Barry’s deal in March 2026, keeping him tied to the club until June 2027. The extension also strengthens the club’s position ahead of the summer transfer window, as any potential move for the Gambian international would now require a significant financial offer.
Barry has continued to grow in importance within the Austria Wien setup, with his performances earning recognition both at club level and with the Gambian national team.
With his future now temporarily settled, the midfielder’s attention turns toward helping Austria Wien challenge for honours next season while continuing his development as one of The Gambia’s promising talents abroad.
