Footy-Africa.com has been exclusively told that Ghana captain Jordan Ayew is keen to continue his career in Europe after leaving Leicester City, with the experienced forward expected to assess his options following the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The 34-year-old became a free agent after Leicester’s relegation and is already attracting interest from clubs in England and France ahead of the new season.
Sources close to the player indicate that Ayew’s preference is to remain in Europe, where he has spent his entire professional career. The veteran forward is also confident that a strong World Cup campaign could boost his chances of securing another move at the highest level.
Despite growing speculation over his next destination, Ayew is not rushing into a decision and is instead fully focused on Ghana’s preparations for the tournament in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
“When the time comes, I’ll make the decision with my family and representatives on my future club,” Ayew told reporters ahead of Ghana’s friendly against Wales in Cardiff. “There’s no rush. I just want to enjoy myself at the World Cup.”
The veteran forward is expected to captain the Black Stars at the tournament and remains one of the most influential figures in Carlos Queiroz’s squad.
Having played for Marseille, Lorient, Swansea City, Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and Leicester City, Ayew brings a wealth of experience that could prove crucial for Ghana’s ambitions at the World Cup.
