Kenyan football heavyweights AFC Leopards have set their sights on Entebbe UPPC forward Ambrose Kigozi as they continue efforts to strengthen their squad ahead of the upcoming campaign, Footy-Africa can exclusively confirm.
According to Footy-Africa sources, the 13-time Kenyan champions have identified the prolific striker as a key attacking option and are actively following developments surrounding his future. Club officials are understood to be impressed by the forward’s performances and are weighing up a possible move as they seek additional firepower for next season.
Kigozi has emerged as one of the most exciting attacking talents in Ugandan football after a remarkable first season in the Uganda Premier League. Operating under the guidance of Abdallah Mubiru, the striker played a pivotal role for Entebbe UPPC, finishing the league season with an impressive tally of 12 goals.
His rise to prominence, however, did not begin in the top flight. Prior to joining Entebbe UPPC, Kigozi established himself as a lethal goal scorer at Kiyinda Boys, where he enjoyed a standout 2024/25 campaign. During that season, he amassed 13 goals and contributed five assists, form that earned him an opportunity to test himself at the highest level of Ugandan football.
The growing interest from AFC Leopards reflects the club’s long-standing confidence in Ugandan players. The Nairobi-based side already has a strong Ugandan presence within its ranks, including former Express FC, KCCA FC, Wakiso Giants FC and Bright Stars FC attacker Samuel Ssenyonjo, who made the switch to Kenya in September last year.
Goalkeeper James Ssetuba is another Ugandan currently on the Leopards’ roster, highlighting the club’s continued investment in talent from across the border.
Having finished second in the Kenyan Premier League standings with 64 points from 34 matches, AFC Leopards are eager to narrow the gap at the summit next season. Recruiting a proven goal scorer such as Kigozi is viewed as one of the measures being considered as the club aims to mount a serious challenge for league honours.
