Paul Ekerete could be the next in line of products from the JB Central Academy in Abuja to make it in Europe after the teenager was handed a trial with MFK Karviná of the Czech Republic, Footy-Africa can exclusively confirm.
Babawo Mohammed, who is facilitating the deal, told Footy-Africa exclusively that the player departed Nigeria on Tuesday for his one-month trial at the Czech club.
“We have a working relationship with MFK Karviná, as some of our players are with the first team and the second team, so we have been doing business together. They saw Ekerete and liked him, and they have now asked him to come over and train with the first team for one month, after which they will decide whether or not to sign him.”
“He is a right winger who is also comfortable playing from a central position in attack. Paul also has good pace and can cross the ball well. I have no doubt he will do well with the first team and hopefully get a contract in time for the January transfer window.”
“He will be fine over there, as we have a few Nigerian lads at the club, like James Bello and others, who will keep him company and help him settle when he starts training with the club,” he added.
In conjunction with CSC Agency, who have the likes of Abdullahi Bewene and Abdullahi Umar on their books, Ekerete, 18, has been handed a one-month trial with the MFK Karviná first team for further assessment by the coaching staff.
The right winger, who can also play as a forward, was picked from the academy because of his standout performances during scouting sessions and has been invited to train with the first team.
His attributes, according to the coach at JB Central, include good crossing, pace and trickery on the wings, and he is likened to Ademola Lookman in the way he plays.
