Nigerian midfielder Klinshak Longbak is on the verge of securing a move to Slovakian top-flight side AS Trenčín following an outstanding individual season in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Footy-Africa can exclusively confirm.

The highly-rated midfielder has arrived in Slovakia to begin a three-week trial with the Fortuna Liga club.

Should the trial prove successful, formal contract negotiations are expected to commence immediately, with sources close to the player indicating that a minimum two-year deal is on the table.

A source close to the club confirmed that while Wikki Tourists are already planning for life in the second tier without their star man, they expect to receive full financial compensation before releasing his international clearance.

“It’s rare to see a midfielder show that level of consistency in a team struggling at the bottom. He played virtually every minute for us and completely outstanding the situation. We knew keeping him after relegation would be impossible.”

“He has an agent here and the club won’t stand in his way—we are just waiting for the trial to conclude so the paperwork and necessary compensation can be sorted because we are the ones that will issue his clearance,” the source exclusively told Footy-Africa.

Despite a bruising campaign for Wikki Tourists which ultimately saw the Bauchi-based club relegated from the Nigerian top flight last term, Longbak’s stock remained incredibly high.

He was an omnipresent figure in the Tourists’ midfield, earning plaudits as one of the league’s standout individual performers.
