Ghanaian midfielder Lord Afrifa rejected a lucrative offer from Turkish club Kayserispor before completing his move to Austria Lustenau, sources have revealed to Footy-Africa.

The 20-year-old recently signed a two-year contract with Austria Lustenau after leaving Sturm Graz at the end of his deal.

According to sources familiar with the negotiations, Kayserispor offered Afrifa a contract worth around €2 million per year in an attempt to convince him to move to Turkey.

However, the player’s representatives felt the midfielder was not yet ready for such a move and advised him to continue his development in a more stable environment.

Sources say Kayserispor’s relegation at the end of the 2025-26 season was also a major factor in the decision. While the Turkish club presented an ambitious project and reportedly promised to help facilitate a bigger move in the future, Afrifa’s camp remained unconvinced.

The player’s representatives preferred a pathway that would allow him to continue playing in a familiar environment after spending the past two years in Austria with Sturm Graz.

Austria Lustenau moved quickly to secure the Ghanaian’s signature and ultimately won the race despite interest from Turkey and other European clubs.

Afrifa joined Sturm Graz in 2024 after impressing at youth level with Ghana and went on to make 40 league appearances for Sturm Graz II in Austria’s second tier.

The former Great Olympics midfielder is regarded as one of Ghana’s promising young talents and believes Austria Lustenau offers the right platform for the next stage of his development.

His move keeps him in Austrian football as he continues his progression in Europe.
