Nigeria winger Samuel Chukwueze has rejected a move to Turkish club Trabzonspor as he remains determined to fight for his place at AC Milan, sources have exclusively told Footy-Africa.
Chukwueze’s future at the Serie A club has been the subject of speculation after spending last season on loan at Premier League side Fulham.
The 27-year-old joined Milan from Villarreal in 2023 but has struggled to establish himself as a regular at the San Siro.
Fulham had the option to sign the Nigerian permanently after his loan spell, during which he scored three goals and registered four assists in 23 Premier League appearances. However, the London club opted against activating the purchase clause.
Four clubs Samuel Chukwueze could join amid uncertain AC Milan future
Footy-Africa understands Fulham attempted to negotiate a lower transfer fee with Milan, but the Italian club were unwilling to reduce their asking price.
Also, Marco Silva’s departure to Benfica is also believed to have affected Chukwueze’s chances of remaining at Fulham, with the Portuguese coach having been the driving force behind the winger’s loan move.
Trabzonspor subsequently emerged as a potential destination after reportedly submitting a β¬15 million (Β£12.9m/$17.6m) offer for the Nigeria international.
But a source close to the player, Babatunde Ojora, told Footy-Africa that Chukwueze has turned down the move because he wants another opportunity to prove himself at Milan.
The winger remains under contract with the Rossoneri until 2028, Footy-Africa gathered that the club is understood to be open to selling him should they receive an acceptable offer.
Milan signed Chukwueze from Villarreal for β¬21.1 million in 2023 after an impressive spell in Spain, where he developed into one of La Liga’s most exciting wide players.

For now, though, the Super Eagles star’s focus is on earning a place in Milan’s plans for the new season rather than pursuing a move elsewhere.
