Gambian midfielder Omar Tamba has officially completed a permanent move to Sudanese giants Al Hilal SC, signing a five-year contract after leaving Samger FC.
A member of the player’s management team, Baboucarr Sey, has exclusively revealed to Footy-Africa that Tamba had attracted interest from Europe, but ultimately opted for Al Hilal after receiving an exceptional offer.
“Five-year contract, a massive one. He was heading to Europe, but the offer was too good to turn down. Plus, the salary is super good—even the European clubs won’t pay that for a starter.”
Tamba, a former Gambia Under-20 international who can operate in midfield and at left-back, was close agreeing a deal with FC ŠTK Šamorin of Slovakia, but will now become the only second Gambian to represent Al Hilal SC after Lamin Jarjou, who featured for the club three years ago.
