Ghanaian midfielder Lawrence Agyekum has joined Erzurumspor FK on loan with the Turkish club holding an option to sign him permanently for €3 million, Footy-Africa can exclusively report.
The 22-year-old attracted interest from several clubs in the USA and Poland, but Erzurumspor eventually presented the most attractive proposal for the Ghana international.
Agyekum’s representatives carefully assessed the sporting and financial aspects of the different offers before accepting the Turkish club’s proposal.
The agreement includes a €300,000 loan fee, while Erzurumspor have the option to make Agyekum’s transfer permanent for €3 million at the end of the 2026/27 season.

Speaking exclusively to Footy-Africa, Agyekum’s representative said the potential permanent transfer was an important part of the agreement.
“During this process, Erzurumspor came in with a very attractive proposal. The agreement includes a €300,000 loan fee, with Erzurumspor having an option to make the transfer permanent for €3 million at the end of the loan period.”
“Considering the financial package, the sporting opportunity, and the potential pathway to a permanent €3 million transfer, we believe the Erzurumspor offer presents a very strong opportunity for the player’s development and long-term career.”
Agyekum is expected to play a more prominent role at Erzurumspor after struggling to establish himself as a regular starter at Cercle Brugge.
He will also have compatriot Elisha Owusu, who joined Erzurumspor earlier in the summer, to help him settle at the club.
Agyekum’s contract with Cercle Brugge runs until 2029, but Erzurumspor now have the opportunity to secure his permanent transfer for €3 million next summer.
