Footy-Africa can exclusively report that Belgian Pro League side Genk are just a few details away from completing the signing of Nigerian forward Rafiu Durosinmi from Italian club Pisa.
Sources close to the negotiations have informed Footy-Africa that Genk have been working on the deal for some time, with talks now entering their final stages.
Durosinmi only joined Pisa six months ago, but the striker became available for transfer following the club’s relegation from Serie A at the end of last season.
Footy-Africa understands that the 22-year-old has a clause in his contract allowing him to leave if Pisa failed to retain their top-flight status, paving the way for his imminent move to Belgium.
The transfer is now on the verge of being finalised, with only minor details left to be resolved.
Separate report suggests that the player is expected to become a club-record signing for Genk, with the total package understood to be worth between €10 million and €11 million. Both clubs are also finalising the structure of performance-related bonuses, as well as a percentage of any future resale.
Durosinmi arrived at Pisa in January as the club’s most expensive signing aftepr a €9 million move from Viktoria Plzeň. However, he endured a difficult spell in Italy, making 12 appearances while scoring one goal and providing one assist.
The Nigerian international also attracted interest from Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor after becoming available this summer, but Genk now appear set to win the race for his signature.
Barring any late changes, the transfer is expected to be completed and officially announced in the coming days.
Durosinmi is preparing to begin the new season with renewed optimism after getting married earlier this summer and enjoying his post-wedding holiday with his wife and family.
