German Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt are set to announce the signing of Accra Lions captain Lawrence Setordjie, Footy-Africa can exclusively reveal.
The 18-year-old midfielder impressed the German club during Accra Lions’ recent European tour, where he captained the Ghanaian side to a series of outstanding performances against German opposition.
Setordjie played a key role as Accra Lions defeated Eintracht Frankfurt’s U-21 side 4-1, scoring the second goal with a powerful finish after leading by example throughout the contest. The victory came just four days after the Lions had beaten Eintracht’s U-19 team 3-1.
Setordjie will initially link up with Eintracht Frankfurt’s U-21 team as he adapts to life in Germany before continuing his development through the club’s pathway.
The talented youngster’s commanding displays, leadership qualities and composure in midfield convinced Frankfurt to move for the Ghana youth international, with an announcement expected soon.
Accra Lions completed their German leg of the tour with three wins from three matches, recording victories over SpVgg Oberrad, Eintracht Frankfurt’s U-19s and U-21s while scoring 17 goals and conceding just twice.
Setordjie’s impending move represents another significant milestone for the Ghanaian second-tier club, which has built a reputation for developing young talents capable of making the step to European football.
