Gambian international Jesper Ceesay is edging closer to completing a move to English Championship side Portsmouth FC from Turkish club Antalyaspor, with negotiations now entering their final stages, Footy-Africa can exclusively confirm.
Sources indicate that the two clubs have reached an agreement in principle on a transfer worth around €1 million, following the successful conclusion of personal terms between Portsmouth and the 24-year-old midfielder approximately two weeks ago.
The remaining hurdle is the structure of the payment. Portsmouth are understood to have proposed paying the transfer fee in instalments over two years, a condition that has so far been rejected by Antalyaspor, who are seeking more favourable payment terms before giving the deal the green light.
Despite the outstanding financial details, there is growing optimism that an agreement will be reached soon. Jesper is expected to travel to England later today or early on Tuesday once the final paperwork is completed, paving the way for his medical and the completion of the transfer.
