Newly promoted Premier League side Coventry City have reached an agreement with Danish side Nordsjaelland for the transfer of Ghanaian midfielder Caleb Yirenkyi.
The deal is worth up to €30 million, which includes a fixed €27 million with the remaining part of the fees paid as add-ons.
The Sky Blues finished as winners of the 2025-26 EFL Championship season and sealed a return to the English top flight for the first time in 25 years.
This has led to their need for reinforcements, and once the deal for Yirenkyi is finalized, he will become their fifth arrival of the summer after Frank Onyeka, Loun Tchaouna, Carl Rushworth and Aurele Amenda.
The Ghanaian midfielder will now join the club ahead of the start of the new season, with Coventry City set to begin their campaign with a clash against defending champions Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on August 21.
Yirenkyi will also be eyeing a fast start to life in the Premier League and will be hoping his versatility can help him earn a regular place in the team.
Transfer fee and contract details
Coventry City will pay a fee of €30 million, with a guaranteed €27 million fee and an additional €3 million in performance-related add-ons for the young midfielder.
The fee represents a club record amount for a transfer at the club, surpassing the fee they paid to sign Rushworth from Brighton & Hove Albion earlier in the summer.
The Sky Blues saw off intense competition from the likes of FC Porto, Strasbourg, Chelsea and Arsenal to seal a deal with Nordsjaelland.

Salary details
Yirenkyi is expected to travel for his medicals and will receive a significant pay upgrade than what he earned during his time at Nordsjaelland.
The 20-year-old will also sign a long-term contract at the club, keeping him at the club at least beyond 2030.
From Denmark to England
Yirenkyi rose to prominence at Nordsjaelland where he has since 2024 and enjoyed a breakthrough campaign last season. He was named the Danish Superliga Young Player of the Season and also earned a place in the Team of the Season as well.
The 20-year-old will now embark on a new challenge in the Premier League and will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of Ghanaian legend Michael Essien, by developing into one of the best players in the league.
