Former Nigeria youth international Peter Agba has completed a loan move to Hungarian top-flight side ETO FC for the rest of the season, with an option to make the transfer permanent.
Speaking to Footy-Africa, the player’s older brother, David Agba, a former El-Kanemi Warriors player, said Peter was excited about the opportunity to take on a new challenge.
βPeter is someone who loves a new challenge, so moving to Hungary is just another stage in his career,β he said. βThe deal suited him and the club, so the move happened. Even though it is a loan deal, he is ready for the challenges ahead.β
βThere are no issues with Haifa at all. He played some really good football there and now he is ready to defend the colours of his new club. There was interest from his former club and other teams as well, but in the end, the best deal was agreed for him and he will now begin a new challenge in Hungary.β
The 23-year-old defensive midfielder leaves Israeli club Maccabi Haifa in search of a new challenge and will now look to establish himself in Hungarian football.
Agba had been linked with a return to former club Olimpija Ljubljana, but the proposed move failed to materialise. Interest also emerged from another unnamed Hungarian club before ETO eventually won the race for his signature.

The former Golden Eaglets star joined Maccabi Haifa in September 2025 and remains under contract with the Israeli side until 2028. However, the loan move gives him an opportunity to gain a fresh experience and potentially secure a longer stay in Hungary.
Agba enjoyed a busy campaign with Maccabi Haifa last season, making 41 appearances across all competitions. The midfielder scored once and registered two assists during the campaign.
Known for his ability to shield the defence and provide balance in midfield, Agba will be hoping to quickly adapt to his new surroundings and become an important player for ETO.
According to Transfermarkt, the Nigerian midfielder currently has a market value of β¬1 million. His performances in Hungary could now determine whether ETO decide to trigger the option to sign him permanently at the end of the season.
