Footy-Africa can exclusively report that Samuel Akere has joined Polish side Wisła Płock on a season-long loan from Widzew Łódź, with an option to make the move permanent at the end of the season.
The 20-year-old completed the move last week after the two clubs reached an agreement over the transfer.
Footy-Africa understands that Akere was keen to secure more regular playing opportunities, with the move to Wisła Płock providing the former Nigeria Under-17 international with an opportunity to establish himself and play a more prominent role.
Akere joined Widzew Łódź in the summer of 2025 and made 18 appearances for the club, scoring one goal and providing one assist.
He spent the second half of last season on loan with Croatian side NK Osijek before returning to Poland.
Footy-Africa gathered that the winger’s latest move includes an option to buy at the end of the loan spell. Footy-Africa also understands that Widzew Łódź have the option to cut the loan agreement short.

Dream debut for Akere
Akere made an immediate impact on his debut for Wisla Plock, coming off the bench in Sunday’s 3-1 victory over KS Cracovia in the Polish Ekstraklasa.
The winger was introduced in the 61st minute and needed just nine minutes to make his mark, scoring Widzew’s third goal of the game.
His performance will provide further encouragement as he begins the next chapter of his career with Wisła Płock.
Akere has around 16 months remaining on his Widzew Łódź contract.

From Lagos to Poland
The exciting forward began his career with G12 Football Academy in Lagos, Nigeria, before moving to FDC Vista Gelendzhik during the 2021-22 campaign.
He later joined Bulgarian club Botev Plovdiv before moving to Widzew Łódź in a deal reported to be worth €750,000.
Now at Wisła Płock, Akere will hope increased playing time can help him continue his development and establish himself at senior level.
The season-long loan gives the Nigerian another opportunity to make an impression in Polish football, with the option of a permanent transfer potentially offering a longer-term future at Wisła Płock.
