Tottenham vs Aston Villa match preview

Tottenham enter this clash aiming to seal their first league win of the season in Roberto De Zerbi’s first season at the club. The former Europa League champions have struggled in the league in the last two seasons, finishing in 17th place consecutively, and they have continued those struggles in the current campaign.

Spurs have picked up just two points from four games and have not scored in any of these matches. The North London club also added the likes of Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes, Savio and Omar Marmoush during the summer transfer window.

Aston Villa, meanwhile, have endured a difficult start to the season under Unai Emery and are without a win in all of their four games so far. Despite winning the Europa League last season and finishing in the top four, they have only picked up one point and have suffered three defeats, leaving them in 19th place in the standings. Villa have also scored once and conceded seven goals as well, and their negative goal difference of six is the second highest in the league, behind bottom placed Coventry City.

Both sides have struggled defensively in recent games and this particular clash should be very open with several chances created, leaving a high possibility of at least two goals to be scored.

Recent form: Tottenham

Tottenham are currently on a poor run of form and are winless so far in the Premier League this season, picking up just two points from their first four games.

However, they are currently unbeaten in the last two games, recording draws against Nottingham Forest and Everton, although they have not scored in any game during this poor run of form.

Recent form: Aston Villa

Aston Villa are also on a poor run of form with just one point from four league games this season, with their only win coming in a 3-2 result against Club Brugge in the UEFA Champions League.

Villa have only kept one clean sheet and they have failed to score in three of their four league games, only finding the net in the 2-1 defeat to Nottingham Forest in their last match.

Five African players who could regret their summer transfer decisions

The Senegalese striker joined the club in the summer transfer window and has already opened his account in the Champions League.

Nicolas Jackson will lead the attack against Spurs and could bring the X-factor with his work rate and linkup play with his teammates.
