Talented Kenyan international defender Johnstone Omurwa has entered talks with Polish Premier League side Stal Rzeszów over a possible move in the upcoming summer transfer window, Footy-Africa has exclusively learned.

Omurwa will become a free agent on June 30, as his contract with Azerbaijani side Abha FC is set to expire. He joined the club in March this year on a short-term deal until the end of the season and impressed, attracting interest from clubs across Europe.

A source close to his representatives at Futaro Stars Agent Group (FSAG) revealed that the club and the player have been in direct contact for several days, with a two-year contract on the table.

“Stal Rzeszów have offered a two-year contract to Johnstone (Omurwa), with just a few details left to agree on, as he wants the move. He has the physical profile that suits the league well. The club is eager to finalize the deal in the next few days. What remains to be seen is whether both sides can swiftly agree on the sign-on fees and salary,” the source exclusively told Footy-Africa.

During his short stint at Abha, Omurwa—whose Transfermarkt valuation is estimated at €600,000—played 15 matches across all competitions in just three months. Before that, he made 25 appearances for Portuguese side Estrela da Amadora in both the Primeira Liga and the Taça de Portugal.

Previously, he played for Muhoroni Youth FC and Mathare United FC in Kenya’s second division and top flight, respectively. He also had a stint with Wazito FC.

At the international level, Omurwa made his debut for Kenya’s senior national team, the Harambee Stars, in 2019 and has since earned 18 competitive caps.
