Despite the recent failure of his move to AC Milan, Nigerian international striker Victor Boniface still has a chance of switching to another team before the summer transfer deadline.

According to the journalist Florian Plettenberg, Werder Bremen have taken action to try and sign the 24-year-old on a season-long deal.

Under contract with Bayer Leverkusen until June 2028, Boniface is valued at €40 million, according to Transfermarkt.

Previously, Boniface spent 48 hours in Italy for the medical for AC Milan and never got a green light to finalise the deal, having to return to Germany.

In August, Bayer and AC Milan have reached agreement over Boniface’s transfer and started to prepare official documents. The clubs decided on a loan deal with a non-mandatory €30 million buy option clause. But the deal never saw the light.

Last season, the Nigerian international scored 11 goals in 27 matches across all competitions.
