Massively talented and experienced Ugandan midfielder Ronald Ssekiganda has joined East African powerhouse and Rwanda Premier League champions APR FC from Ugandan giants SC Villa, Footy-Africa can exclusively confirm.

Ssekiganda has agreed to and signed a two-year contract with APR, pending official announcement. The club is assembling a strong team as they prepare to compete in the CAF Champions League in the upcoming campaign.

A source at Prosper Sports Agency confirmed that the deal is now finalized following an extended period of negotiations. Contrary to initial discussions, the player has secured a sign-on fee of €24,000 (about 100 million Uganda Shillings), along with monthly wages of €2,100 (about 8.6 million shillings) after taxes.

“There was a bit of a complication at the last minute, but it’s now done, as all the paperwork has been signed. The club will now schedule his flight for the official unveiling. But it’s all sealed now, as Ssekiganda will play in the CAF Champions League next season, with APR viewing him as one of the key players to build the team around,” the source exclusively told Footy-Africa.

In the preceding season, the 21-year-old—despite suffering a series of injury setbacks—featured in 14 Uganda Premier League matches for SC Villa, scoring one goal and providing five assists. In the 2023/24 campaign, he scored three goals and recorded six assists in 26 appearances, helping Villa claim a record 17th league title.

At the international level, Ssekiganda, who made his debut for the Uganda national senior team, the Cranes, last year, has since earned 12 competitive caps, scoring once and providing two assists. He played a crucial role in Uganda’s qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
