Besiktas vs Fenerbahce Match Preview

Besiktas have began their hunt for a first league title since the 2020-21 season in less than convincing fashion. The club dismissed former Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in August, after losing their UEFA Conference League playoff tie, which meant there was no European commitment for the season.

The Black Eagles have won only five of their ten matches so far, losing three times and recording two stalemates. They are fourth on the standings with 17 points, five points behind third-placed Fenerbahce.

Fenerbahce, on the other hand, remain one of the two unbeaten teams in the league this season alongside champions Galatasaray. The club also dismissed Jose Mourinho in August, after the former Chelsea manager failed to lead them to a place in the UEFA Champions League.

The Yellow Canaries have won six of their league games and are just a single point behind surprise second-placed Trabzonspor after only ten rounds of fixtures.

Recent Form: Besiktas

Besiktas have been relatively inconsistent this season and have only won once in their last four outings in the league. They have also lost one of their four home games in the league this season, suffering a shock 2-1 defeat to Genclerbirligi.

The Black Eagles have kept just two clean sheets all season and are without one in their home stadium this season.

Recent Form: Fenerbahce

Fenerbahce are one of the most in-form teams in the Turkish league and are yet to taste defeat this season.

However, the Yellow Canaries have won only two of five away matches this season, recording three draws.

Player to Watch: Wilfred Ndidi (Besiktas)

Nigerian midfield stalwart Wilfred Ndidi has become a regular at Besiktas since joining the club from Leicester City in the summer.

The 28-year-old has brought stability to the midfield and can be a threat with his long range strikes as well as from set-piece situations.
