Zambian striker Kingstone Mutandwa has attracted interest from Germany Bundesliga club following his impressive performances in Austria.
Footy-Africa sources have now exclusively disclosed that Ried are preparing for a permanent move this January for the Zambian striker, whose release clause is not known. However, Ried will face competition from Red Salzburg and RB Leipzig, both of whom are said to be monitoring the player.
“Right now, Ried wants to keep him. Discussions are underway, but Cagliari may demand more, which could see them fail to buy him. Others are Salzburg and RB Leipzig, who are monitoring his progress,” the source exclusively told Footy-Africa.
Ried earned promotion to the top flight after winning the Austrian second-tier league last season. With Mutandwa in their ranks, the team is hoping he stays to help them maintain their topflight status.

Mutandwa, who joined newly promoted Austrian Bundesliga side SV Ried on loan from Italian Serie A club Cagliari, with an option to buy in June this year, has been on fire since his switch, scoring ten goals and two assists in 24 games across all competitions.
The 22-year-old signed for Cagliari from Atletico Lusaka in August 2023 and was initially assigned to the youth team before being promoted later that year.
In the youth setup, he featured in 18 matches, scoring five goals — a performance that earned him a place in the senior squad.
Last year, he extended his contract with Cagliari, committing to the club until 2028.

However, since his promotion, he only made twelve appearances across all competitions, scoring just once and struggled to break in the starting eleven.
