Brentford have submitted a formal bid for Nigerian winger Sani Suleiman, with the Premier League club stepping up their interest in the AS Trenčín forward, Footy-Africa can exclusively confirm.
The 19-year-old has attracted attention from several leading European sides, including Chelsea, Tottenham, Bayer Leverkusen, AC Milan and Villarreal. Footy-Africa understands that both Milan and Villarreal recently sent scouts to assess the teenager.
Milan and Villarreal scout Sani Suleiman, Trenčín wait for the highest bidder
A source close to the discussions exclusively told Footy-Africa that Brentford’s offer has not yet been accepted, as it falls short of Trenčín’s valuation. However, negotiations between the clubs are ongoing.
Suleiman is thought to be open to a move to England, although not necessarily to Brentford specifically. The Bees recently completed the signing of fellow Nigerian youth international Benjamin Fredrick, who featured alongside Suleiman at the FIFA U20 World Cup.
It is believed that if Suleiman joins a Premier League club, he could be loaned out to continue his development.
The winger’s contract with AS Trenčín runs until 2026, with an option for the Slovak club to extend it by a further two years. Trenčín may look to cash in during the January window if a suitable offer arrives.
