Nigerian U-20 winger Sani Suleiman is at a crucial stage in his career, with a possible departure from AS Trencin on the cards ahead of the January transfer window.

The 19-year-old rose to prominence in the Nigerian Premier Football League with Akwa United and sealed a move to Europe in 2024, joining the Slovakian club on a two-year contract with the option of an additional year.

The youngster impressed for Nigeria at the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup in September and has been in remarkable form for his club, scoring three times and providing four assists in all competitions so far this season.

The forward’s versatility allows him to operate on either flank, although his preferred position is as a left-winger, while he is also comfortable playing as a left midfielder in a four-man midfield.

His eye-catching performances in the Slovakian League have drawn interest from several clubs across Europe’s top leagues. With his current contract set to expire at the end of the season, the Slovak side is open to a January sale to avoid losing him on a free transfer next summer.

Transfer speculation continues to intensify, with strong indications that the Nigerian forward could be on the move in the coming weeks. Here are three potential destinations he could join by the end of January.

Brentford (England)

English Premier League outfit Brentford have renewed their interest and have reportedly submitted a bid to acquire the services of young Nigerian winger Sani Suleiman from AS Trencin in the January transfer window.

Although the bid has not been accepted by the Slovak club as it falls short of their valuation, the Bees are expected to return with an improved offer.

The move could also appeal to Suleiman, as it would aid his development and offer him a potential linkup with young defender Benjamin Fredrick, who also joined Brentford but is currently on loan at Belgian side Dender.

Eintracht Frankfurt (Germany)

German Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt have also expressed interest in completing a deal for Sani Suleiman.

Although a deal may be difficult to conclude given the level of interest from other top clubs in Europe, the German club could still lure the 19-year-old due to their history of developing young players, pointing to how several Nigerian players have used the Bundesliga as a stepping stone to successful careers.

Villareal (Spain)

Spanish La Liga side Villareal are one of the top European sides interested in signing Sani Suleiman.

The Yellow Submarines have kept tabs on the Nigerian forward and could land his signature in the January transfer window.

Whichever club secures the exciting winger in January will be getting excellent value for money and a quality long-term option.
