Equatorial Guinea vs Algeria Match Preview

Equatorial Guinea finished top of their group at the 2023 African Cup of Nations with an unbeaten run, but are in danger of an early exit in Morocco after losing their first two games at the tournament. The National Thunder suffered a 2-1 defeat to Burkina Faso in a dramatic opening match and were also defeated 1-0 by Sudan in their second group match, leaving them rooted to the bottom of the standings. They need to defeat Algeria convincingly and hope for a favourable outcome in the other group game.

Algeria, on the other hand, have enjoyed a 100% start to their campaign so far and will be hoping for another victory in their final match of the group stage. However, they could seal top spot with just a point against Equatorial Guinea. The Desert Warriors have won both of their matches so far, recording a dominant 3-0 win over Sudan in their first match which was followed by a 1-0 win over Burkina Faso in their second group match.

Equatorial Guinea vs Algeria Head-to-Head record

  • 14.11.2024 – Equatorial Guinea 0-0 Algeria
  • 05.09.2024 – Algeria 2-0 Equatorial Guinea
  • 16.01.2021 – Algeria 0-1 Equatorial Guinea

This contest has been evenly matched in recent meetings, with one win apiece in their last three matches.

However, Equatorial Guinea produced a shock result over Algeria in their last meeting at the African Cup of Nations.

Recent Form: Equatorial Guinea

Equatorial Guinea have only managed one win in their last five matches in all competitions, a 1-0 win over Kenya last month and are winless so far in Morocco.

The National Thunder have also lost their last three matches and have not kept a clean sheet in any of their last seven matches in all competitions.

Recent Form: Algeria

Algeria are on an impressive run of form and have won both of their matches so far in Morocco, also keeping two clean sheets in the process.

The Desert Warriors have won all of their last six matches and their defence was only breached twice during this period.

The former Manchester City winger tops the goalscoring chart in Morocco with three goals so far and will be eager to consolidate his position with another inspiring performance to lead Algeria over Equatorial Guinea.

Best Betting Odds

Away (Algeria) to Win – 1.79 (via 1xBet)

Prediction

Given Equatorial Guinea’s winless streak and Algeria’s impressive form, the Desert Warriors have enough quality to finish their group stage campaign with a convincing win.
