Chelsea are leading the race to sign Nigeria Under-20 winger Abduljelil Kamaldeen, Footy-Africa can exclusively report.
The Premier League side have monitored the teenager for some time following his performances for Nigeria’s Flying Eagles at the Under-20 World Cup in Chile.
Kamaldeen has also attracted interest from fellow English clubs West Ham United and Brentford, as well as Belgian side Anderlecht.
Talks have taken place between Chelsea and the player’s current club, Kwara State Football Academy, with an agreement understood to be in place for the youngster to travel to England for a short trial.

Sources exclusively told Footy-Africa that Kamaldeen is expected to arrive in the UK next week, with the move subject to the outcome of the assessment.
Kwara State Football Academy director of football Samuel Elijah praised the winger’s development.
“Kamaldeen is a very talented player and already a youth international, which explains the level of interest around him,” Elijah told Footy-Africa.
“We have worked hard at the academy to prepare him and others for the challenges of European football,” he added.
