Premier League side West Ham United have been linked with a move for Nigerian midfielder Tochukwu Nnadi.

The midfielder was coached at youth level by former Nigeria international Oladuni Oyekale, who in an exclusive interview with Footy-Africa expressed belief that a move to the Premier League would suit the player.

“I’m happy with his progress,” Oyekale exclusively told Footy-Africa. “Tochukwu is a good lad and a very good player with so much quality. The Premier League is one of the best leagues in the world and we would be happy to see one of our own playing there.”

Nnadi was part of Nigeria’s Under-20 World Cup squad alongside Selim Fargo and Benjamin Fredrick, all of whom have since graduated to the senior national team. Nnadi and Fargo made their Super Eagles debuts at this month’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, while Fredrick missed out through injury.

“We are proud of them and their progress,” Oyekale added. “It’s unfortunate Benjamin is injured, but that’s football. We pray he returns quickly.”

The 22-year-old currently plays for Belgian side Zulte Waregem, who are understood to be open to offers during the January transfer window.

The Hammers are keen to strengthen their midfield options, with a holding midfielder identified as a priority, and Nnadi has emerged as a potential target for the Premier League club.

Nnadi joined Zulte Waregem after a spell with Bulgarian outfit Botev Plovdiv, having moved there in January 2024. He first caught attention following his performances for Nigeria at the 2023 Fifa Under-20 World Cup in Argentina.

Nnadi has made more than 50 appearances for Zulte Waregem, scoring once and providing two assists. A move to West Ham would represent a significant step forward in his career.
