KCCA FC teenage midfielder Brain Jjara is edging closer to a major European breakthrough after attracting concrete interest from two of Norway’s biggest clubs, Molde FK and Rosenborg BK, Footy-Africa can confirm.

The highly-rated defensive midfielder, who has quickly become one of the most exciting young talents in Ugandan football, is now firmly on the radar of Scandinavian scouts following his outstanding rise over the past 18 months.

Speaking exclusively to Footy-Africa, Jjara’s agent Geoffrey Kayemba Solo confirmed that discussions are already well advanced and that the player is preparing to travel to Norway.

“The interest from Molde and Rosenborg is very real,” Kayemba Solo exclusively told Footy-Africa. “Both clubs have followed Brain closely since the U-17 World Cup and they like what they see, his intelligence, his work rate and how quickly he adapts to different levels of football.”

“We have agreed that he goes to Norway for trials with both teams, and after that, a final decision will be made on his future. For a young Ugandan player, this is a huge opportunity and we are confident he will impress.”

Rosenborg, based in Trondheim, boast a glittering domestic and European pedigree, with 26 league titles, 12 Norwegian Cups and more UEFA appearances than any other club in the country.

Molde, meanwhile, have built a strong modern reputation as five-time league champions and regular European campaigners, producing and nurturing top talents including Ole Gunnar Solskjær and Erling Haaland.

Brain Jjara the Pulse: Uganda’s maestro powered historic U-17 World Cup run

Jjara first announced himself on the global stage during the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar, where he was a constant presence in the Uganda Cubs side that reached the Round of 16 for the first time in the country’s history. Operating as a tireless box-to-box midfielder, he started every match of the campaign, impressing with his composure, tactical awareness and ability to dictate the tempo against elite opposition.

That form has translated seamlessly into club football at KCCA, where his rapid development has seen him break into the senior side. His landmark moment came in 2024 when he was handed his debut by head coach Abdallah Mubiru in a dominant 5–0 victory over Maroons, stepping in during the absence of the suspended Joel Sserunjogi.

Since then, Jjara has continued to grow in stature, becoming a key young figure in the Lugogo-based club’s midfield unit.

Now, Europe is calling. Rosenborg BK, the most decorated club in Norwegian football history, and Molde FK, one of Scandinavia’s most consistent performers in continental competition, are both pushing hard to secure his services during the current transfer window. The two clubs are understood to be keen on taking the Ugandan youngster initially on trial before deciding on a permanent move.

For Jjara, the coming days could be career-defining. If he succeeds in Norway, he would become the latest Ugandan teenager to take the bold step into European football, and perhaps the most exciting yet.
