In the aftermath of Nigeria’s narrow exit at the semifinal stage of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi has emerged as a strong voice of calm and conviction, calling on the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to resist the temptation of another managerial reset.

Speaking ahead of the third-place playoff in Casablanca, Ndidi delivered a passionate and measured defence of head coach Eric Chelle, at a time when speculation over the Malian tactician’s future has begun to swirl.

Rather than dwell on disappointment, the midfield general redirected the conversation toward stability, progress, and long-term vision, values he believes are crucial if Nigeria are to return to the summit of African football.

“For continuity, I feel like they should keep the coach because he is a wonderful manager,” Ndidi underlined told the press.

“I will tell you that for free, we should make this team a continuity. We should focus because there are so many games to play,” he added.

Ndidi’s message could not be timelier. Nigeria’s AFCON campaign, though falling short of the ultimate prize, showed flashes of cohesion and growth under Chelle’s stewardship. Coupled with the pain of missing out on World Cup qualification, the Super Eagles captain warned that tearing down the current technical framework could undo the progress already made.

For Ndidi, the solution is not another overhaul, but patience, allowing the team to mature, build chemistry, and refine its identity under consistent leadership.
