Following his decision to not continue with Ghana Premier League side Golden Kick FC, Ghanaian striker Dacosta Owusu is on the verge of securing a new home, with PΓ€rnu JK Vaprus leading the race to secure his signature, Footy-Africa can exclusively confirm.

The playmaker, who is now a free agent after the expiry of his contract at Golden Kick, declined a sign-on fee of €12,600 from Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko FC that had come with a two-year contract offer, to seek his maiden move to Europe, with Estonia’s PΓ€rnu JK Vaprus.

An exclusive source close to the player, has disclosed to Footy-Africa that Owusu was in direct contact with officials at the Estonian club, and an agreement was reached in principle. The player is set for his medical in the coming week ahead of the deal’s completion.

β€œHe (Owusu) will join Vaprus after a verbal agreement with the club, and will sign a four-year contract, with huge sums in the deal. The move to Asante Kotoko didn’t happen, as Vaprus showed up with much better terms. Above all, he sees it as a chance to chase his dream in Europe, as this will be the first time to play there, so it’s an opportunity he couldn’t turn down,” the source spoke to Footy-Africa in an exclusive interview.

Owusu has been one of league’s most promising players over the past seasons, as he scored 17 goals and registered seven assists in 37 games during that spell. Last season, despite injuries, he still managed five goals and two assists in eight matches.

Meanwhile, internationally, the versatile attacker has yet to receive a senior national team (The Black Stars) call-up. However, he has previously played for the country’s U17 team, The Black Starlets.
