After impressing during his loan spell at Tunisian top-flight side Club Africain, the side has advanced in the talks to sign Ghanaian midfielder Richard Boadu on a permanent basis, Footy-Africa sources have exclusively learned.

The 27-year-old joined Club Africain on a six-month loan in the January transfer window from Libyan side Al-Tahaddy FC. The former now want to sign him permanently on a three-year contract, as they aim to build a stout team to ably compete for the championship, and subsequent qualification to the CAF Champions League.

In an exclusive interview with Footy-Africa, a source close to Reign Star, who represent the player, confirmed the developments, indicating that Club Africain have been in contact for close to a week. A verbal agreement has been reached with both Boadu and Al-Tahaddy.

“Richard (Boadu) has performed on and off the pitch on loan beyond expectations. Club Africain have wanted him on a permanent three-year deal, and they seem to have succeeded. There is a verbal agreement in place for all parties, and the player is set to fly to Tunisia for medicals and his contract signing. They consider him a proper pillar in their desire to compete for titles next season,” the source exclusively told Footy-Africa.

In his time at Club Africain since arrival in January, the midfielder played 16 matches, with two goals and one assist. At Al-Tahaddy in the first round before leaving, he had played 13 matches, registering a single goal and assist apiece.

In the 2023-2034 season, he featured for Al-Ahly Benghazi where he played 18 matches with two goals and one assist. The midfielder joined them from Asante Kotoko FC in Ghana where he had spent two years, racking up 52 matches. He also featured for Ghana Premier League side Medeama FC, where he played for three seasons, featuring in 47 league games.

Meanwhile, at the international stage, Boadu, has yet to play a competitive game for Ghana’s star-studded senior national team, The Black Stars. He has, however, played for youth teams in the past.
