Musa Juwara’s proposed transfer to Turkish League 1 side Sakaryaspor has fallen through at the last minute after his camp decided against a loan move from Polish outfit Pogoń Szczecin, insisting instead on a transfer to a higher-level competition, Footy-Africa can exclusively reveal.
Sakaryaspor had shown concrete interest in the 24-year-old winger and entered negotiations with Pogoń Szczecin over a temporary move. While discussions progressed and terms were explored, the deal ultimately stalled due to differing expectations around the player’s next step.
“Sakaryaspor came for Musa and the clubs agreed on a loan fee. Pogoń wanted too much, but in the end the clubs agreed on loan terms,” a source close to the player exclusively told Footy-Africa. “However, I advised Musa not to go. We want a championship move or a Super League, or that type of level.”
The decision reflects Juwara’s ambition to compete at a higher standard as he approaches a crucial stage of his career. Despite interest from Turkey, his representatives are prioritising opportunities that offer top-flight exposure or a clear pathway to major honours.

Meanwhile, reports from Poland suggest that Pogoń Szczecin are open to parting ways with the Gambian international as part of a broader squad reshuffle. The club is said to be keen on offloading the player in order to reduce its wage bill and create room for incoming signings.
Juwara joined Pogoń Szczecin on a free transfer from Danish side Vejle Boldklub last summer. Since his arrival, he has featured in 18 matches across all competitions, registering one goal in 1,096 minutes of action.

While his game time has been limited, the winger remains confident that a move to the right environment will allow him to rediscover his best form.
