Promising midfielder Abdoulie Mboob is set to sign a permanent deal with Turkish Süper Lig side Sivasspor following an impressive trial period with the club over the past month, Footy-Africa exclusively confirms.
The 23-year-old, who holds dual citizenship of The Gambia and Sweden, has caught the attention of the Sivasspor coaching staff with his technical ability, vision, and work rate during pre-season training and friendlies. The deal, which is expected to be finalised later this week, will see Mboob make a significant step up in his career as he joins one of Turkey’s top-flight clubs.
Mboob began his footballing journey in Sweden, developing through the youth ranks at AIK U19 before featuring for Eskilstuna City FC and 08 Villigen. He most recently played for German lower-league side TSV Singen, where he gained valuable experience and showcased his versatility in midfield roles.
Born to Gambian parents and raised in Sweden, Mboob is eligible to represent either country at international level. However, he has expressed a strong desire to represent The Gambia on the international stage, a move that could bolster the Scorpions’ midfield options ahead of upcoming international competitions.
Sivasspor sees Mboob as a valuable long-term asset and a player with significant upside. The club, known for nurturing young talent, is expected to integrate him gradually into the first-team setup during the 2025–26 Süper Lig campaign.
With the move to Turkey on the horizon, Mboob now looks to continue his development at the highest level and potentially attract the attention of The Gambia’s national team selectors.
